Dear G. A.

Here is a task for you. Can you write a piece in which you just use short words, like this one?

It is quite hard to stick to short words and not use long ones. Most tales need long words to show what you mean, but it can be done.

To do this, you need to know a lot of words, that is short words, for most of the words you use are long. Have you thought of how hard it is to write in this way?

I found this test in a book on the use of words and I hope you like it. Well, my dear friend, I do not think I can keep this up for long so I shall stop now. Please let me know how you go if you try this.

Yours,

PS Indubitably writers also encounter comparable difficulties employing only multi-syllabic expressions, simultaneously omitting monosyllabic communications.
